RELEASE DATE: May 8, 2026 on all digital listening platforms
LINE welcomes sound artist, composer, and field recordist Verónica Cerrotta, originally from Argentina and based in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her first work for LINE, Álbum de Viaje, continues her explorations of environmental listening and everyday soundscapes to create imaginary spaces and sonic fictions.
VALPARAÍSO:
In November 2023, I was in the city of Valparaíso, as part of the Tsonami Festival and Residency. For a month I lived and walked the city with hills and sea view, with colorful houses and tin roofs, with fishermen and street vendors, with music, chants and noise. Sea lions, street fairs, markets, the port. Seagulls, snails, seaweed, cliffs. Rehearsals, lodging rooms, objects sought and found.
During the walks, I made field recordings which I later used to play in a radio concert. The intention was to create a sound and abstract image of Valparaíso.
This piece is part of the material recorded and used in that concert.
Valparaíso is my homage to the city of Valparaíso.
OTRAS CIUDADES:
In October 2022 I traveled to Europe to participate in two festivals with my band a.hop. We performed at LUFF (Lausanne, CH) and Juckpulver (Marburg, DE). Before and after I visited other cities. In all of them I made recordings compulsively, it was my way of recording the places; sound memories that when I listen back transport me again to those days and those places. That is the power of field recordings: they keep in themselves, time and space.
This work is a chronological journey, on the contrary: it starts in Berlin, which was the last city I visited, and moves backwards, almost to the beginning of the tour, passing through Marburg, Lausanne (CH), Porcheresse and Namur (BE).
