  • In these seven tracks, most of this quite minimal yet complex, there seem to be elements of play alongside pregnant pauses and electronic impulses. As soon as a pattern identifies itself, it veers off into the distance, like playing hide and seek amid the passing of dense fog where nothing is visible (audible) for periods of time. The fragments that do show are broken from the whole, dangling, naked. And as the tiny tones bounce and flex, there is a human quality to this entirely synthesized composition.

Squiggles beget pulses which lead to bowed swelling waves that fade into reverb. What sounds at first like a pachinko hall funnels into assorted bright and rounded hues on Uncertainty, which substantiates a blissful, and shy awkwardness. Elsewhere ignited echoes are suddenly scrapped, and then begin to loom larger with Distance.

Though evocative of a modern day Basil Kirchin or Jean-Jacques Perrey the record in its totality comes off somewhat clinical rather than “free”. The listener may feel as if they are eavesdropping on a mad scientist while in-progress of experimenting with the variables of tempo, tone and other happenstance. Each of the timed silences really help emphasize individual movements between short drones, flares, and other unexplainable inflections.
